TOKYO ART CITY by NAKED [Ended]

June 16th Fri.– September 3rd Sun., 2017

Gallery AaMo

This event has ended.
Thank you very much for visiting us.

Based on the concept of ``A city is art,'' this project uses projection mapping and giant models to express a ``city'' where a variety of people's activities are concentrated, using the ever-changing ``Tokyo'' as its theme.

The popular event held in Shibuya, Tokyo in the winter of 2016 has been doubled in size and will be held at Gallery AaMo.

We will create a collage of the iconic places of Tokyo using giant models, and by walking through them, we will hold an exhibition where you can experience a "city" that continues to change across time.

About the Exhibition

An amazing entertainment space that is surrounded by 360 degrees with about 100 projectors and about 250 models has been created.

This summer, ``TOKYO ART CITY by NAKED'', a modern art space that transcends the boundaries of art, entertainment, and technology, will appear at the new spot ``Gallery AaMo'' in Tokyo Dome City (opening on 4/15). The skyscrapers of Shinjuku, the scramble crossing of Shibuya, the Rainbow Bridge of Odaiba, the crowds of Akihabara, the Shuto Expressway that runs through these streets, the many layers of subways...The theme of "TOKYO" is to symbolize Tokyo. Projection mapping using approximately 100 projectors, collage of 8 spots <Shinjuku/Shibuya/Odaiba/Tokyo Tower/ Tokyo Dome /Akihabara/Tokyo Station/Tokyo National Museum> with approximately 250 models including giant models. A variety of expressions are expressed using light and video production using the latest technology. The entire venue, which boasts an area of 730㎡, becomes a 360° dynamic art space sprinkled with light.

<Shibuya> A crosswalk appears in the sky above the scramble intersection, and building signs and buildings appear 360 degrees as if encompassing the entire city.

Perfect for three generations of leisure this summer! Exciting mechanisms and a first-hand experience of Tokyo you've never seen before

"TOKYO ART CITY by NAKED" is full of fun tricks. The 4.3m tall Tokyo Tower has an observation deck that you can actually climb, where you can see jumbo jets flying right in front of you and look down on the ever-changing colorful Tokyo. The walls of buildings in Shibuya have become digital graffiti corners where you can draw freely with your fingers. In Akihabara, there will be a rare Gacha Gacha that can only be obtained at the venue. Digital fireworks perfect for summer will be launched, and the streets and walls of buildings will have interactive features that are linked to social media in real time, and the entire city will come to life with sounds and smoke popping out in response to people's movements. In addition, we will provide entertainment experiences that will satisfy all three generations, including workshops that parents and children can enjoy together, surprise performances, and projects in collaboration with popular artists.

<Graffiti Area> A digital graffiti corner has opened behind the Shibuya Scramble Crossing where you can freely draw pictures with your fingers and be fascinated by both children and adults.

A project that embodies and grows the “mediatization of cities” towards 2020.

In 2012, the Tokyo Station 3D Projection Mapping ``TOKYO HIKARI VISION'' directed by Ryotaro Muramatsu, CEO of NAKED, uses light and video to depict the iconic buildings of Tokyo, and is currently being promoted by the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry. It shocked society as an early attempt to realize the ``mediatization of the city.'' In the five years since then, NAKED has performed numerous performances in public spaces and city symbols based on the concept that "cities are art," and has amassed a track record of attracting over 1.4 million people to their events. We will deliver this as an entertainment event powered up from "TOKYO ART CITY by NAKED," which was held on a trial basis at Shibuya Hikarie Hall last winter. Experience the ever-changing "Tokyo" where the real and virtual are synchronized and transcend time.

<Shinjuku> This is an area where the lively areas such as Kabukicho and the area where the Shinjuku Metropolitan Government Building is located are mixed together, allowing you to experience the duality of Shinjuku as one expression.
