Space Travelium TeNQ Special Exhibition "Underwater Space Walk" produced by Enoshima Aquarium

Space Travelium TeNQと新江ノ島水族館のコラボレーション企画展を開催いたします。
This exhibition will focus on the underwater world of plankton that float in the ocean. It will also feature the extremely popular jellyfish at aquariums, which appear to reflect the galaxy. Additionally, the exhibition will showcase the world of radiolarians, which may be small but resemble the beauty of space. Finally, there will be an aqua terrarium tank that evokes the universe and the earth.
Additionally, in the "LOUNGE Q" area, a special video (approximately 5 minutes) featuring Kenjiro Tsuda, a voice actor and actor, will be screened to commemorate the special exhibition. This video tells a story that connects space to the sea. During the exhibition period, original merchandise and cafe items related to the exhibition will also be available for purchase. Please enjoy the collaboration between "space" and "aquarium."

◇Main exhibit contents

● 5 aquarium displays including moon jellyfish, cannonball jellies, and common octopus

●Aqua terrarium tank display

The World of Radiolaria and Foraminifera

The exhibits include microscopic photographs, elaborate models, and real radiolarians and foraminifera.

Radiolarians: Protozoans with skeletons made of opal or strontium sulfate. Foraminifera: Protozoans with shells made of calcium carbonate.
Both are very tiny creatures, but they are found in abundance in oceans around the world, and many species are known for their beautiful, artistic shapes.

◇Special exhibition video

A special video (about 5 minutes) about a story that connects space to the sea, starring Kenjiro Tsuda, an active voice actor and actor, will be screened in the "LOUNGE Q" area. Enjoy the world of the sea and space projected on the big screen.

Message from Kenjiro Tsuda

I've always loved space fantasies and astronaut-themed movies. I've always been interested in space, so I was honored to be able to participate in this project. I've had contact with the Enoshima Aquarium for some time, but I thought this was an interesting collaboration between "space" and an "aquarium" that had never been done before. I think that both people who are interested in space and those who haven't had much contact with it until now will be able to see some interesting exhibits, so I hope that this will spark an interest in space.

◇宇宙養殖実験水槽「SPACE AQUARIUM-1」展示

好適環境水を使った宇宙養殖実験装置を展示します。国際宇宙ステーション（ISS）や月面などでの魚の養殖を想定した宇宙養殖実験水槽が「SPACE AQUARIUM-1」です。サイズは横60cm、奥行き35cm、高さ30cm、水量55L。バクテリアを利用した生物濾過装置を備え、アンモニアを硝化・脱窒する仕組みです。酸素供給と二酸化炭素排出は人工肺で行います。甲殻類用の好適環境水でヨシエビの3カ月間無換水飼育を達成しました。

好適環境水とは？

海水の中から海の魚に必要な成分を、ナトリウム、カリウム、カルシウムなどに絞り込み、海水魚も淡水魚も同じ水槽で飼育できるようにした人工飼育水です。岡山理科大学生命科学部生物科学科の山本俊政准教授が中心となって、2006年に開発しました。研究拠点は生物生産教育研究センターです。現在、魚類用や甲殻類用として国内特許8件、国際特許６件を取得。これまで養殖に成功した魚種はトラフグ、ヒラメ、マツカワ、クエ、クロマグロ、シマアジ、ニホンウナギ、タマカイ、ベニザケ、オニテナガエビ、バナメイエビ、ブラックタイガーなど。一部はビジネス化が進んでいます。「水と電気さえあればどこでも養殖可能」という好適環境水の特長を生かし、2022年に宇宙養殖プロジェクトをスタートさせ、過重力・微小重力環境での魚卵孵化、摂餌実験などに取り組んでいます。

世界的な理論物理学者でアメリカを拠点に研究を行うほか、「Space Travelium TeNQ」のアドバイザーとしてご協力いただいている村山斉教授と、新江ノ島水族館で30年以上にわたりクラゲ飼育に携わり、クラゲの魅力を発信し続けている足立文さんが、宇宙の美しさ、海の美しさについて多様な視点を交えつつ、対談形式で語り合います。

Speakers	村山斉／東京大学カブリ数物連携宇宙研究機構教授理論物理学者であり、宇宙における暗黒物質・暗黒エネルギーや、標準モデルを超える素粒子物理など、幅広いトピックスを研究。「Space Travelium TeNQ」の総合監修・アドバイザーとしてご協力いただいています。著書に「宇宙は何でできているのか」幻冬舎（2010）、「宇宙はなぜ美しいのか」幻冬舎（2022）など、多数。足立文／新江ノ島水族館　展示飼育部大学で海産無脊椎動物について学び、1992年に入社。以来30年以上にわたり、えのすいトリーターとしてクラゲの飼育・展示に携わる。 *えのすいトリーターとは、生物を飼育（treat）し、お客さまをおもてなし（treat）する、新江ノ島水族館の「展示飼育スタッフ」のオリジナル呼称です

About the Enoshima Aquarium

With the concept of "an exciting adventure aquarium," we develop and provide highly edutainment content and programs so that visitors can always encounter new discoveries, uncovering the mysteries hidden in the ocean and life, and feeling amazed and moved by experiential programs that expand on ocean play. Based on the theme of "Sagami Bay and the Pacific Ocean," the aquarium features original exhibits using a variety of techniques, such as the "Sagami Bay Zone" centered on the "Sagami Bay Large Aquarium," which reproduces the environment of Sagami Bay as faithfully as possible, "Deep Sea I" and "Deep Sea II," which introduce the cutting edge of deep-sea research, and the "Jellyfish Fantasy Hall," which makes use of over 70 years of breeding experience.

キービジュアルイラストレーター：かずのこ

「青くて宇宙飛行士なオリジナルイラスト」をテーマに、2020年から作品を制作しているイラストレーター。宇宙・月・星などのモチーフと日常を掛け合わせた独自の表現に、優しいタッチを織り交ぜたイラストが得意。SNSでのイラスト投稿を中心に活動しており、総フォロワー数は20万人超。2023年9月、中央公論新社より初作品集「青星」を刊行。
