◆Summer Vacation Special Talk Event② Theme: Foraminifera

A special talk event will be held to commemorate the "Space Travelium TeNQ Special Exhibition "Underwater Space Walk" produced by Enoshima Aquarium," which is being held in the special exhibition area. The ticket for this event is a special ticket set that includes an event participation ticket, admission to Space Travelium TeNQ, and admission to Enoshima Aquarium.

The currently running special exhibition "Space Walk in the Sea" produced by Enoshima Aquarium will feature the mysterious creature "Foraminifera" which is also on display. Marine researchers will provide easy-to-understand explanations. There may be connections to space in unexpected places. In the corner where you can actually touch and classify star sands, you can take home the star sands you have actually sorted.

  • Principal Investigator, Ultra-cutting-edge Technology Development Program, Ultra-cutting-edge Research and Development Division, Japan Agency for Marine-Earth Science and Technology. PhD (Science). Researcher of foraminiferal biology. In recent years, he has played a central role in research on rearing deep-sea creatures in collaboration with Enoshima Aquarium and JAMSTEC.

Ms. Yukiko Nagai, Japan Agency for Marine-Earth Science and Technology (JAMSTEC)

  • Associate Researcher at the Ultra-cutting-edge Technology Research Program, Ultra-cutting-edge Research and Development Division, Japan Agency for Marine-Earth Science and Technology. PhD (Academic). A cell biologist, he cultivates foraminifera, an organism that is difficult to culture, while studying their ecology and shell formation process. He also has experience raising a variety of other marine organisms.

Eusapia Co., Ltd.

  • After earning a PhD in Human and Environmental Studies in Marine Biology, he gained research experience at JAMSTEC and other institutions before moving into science communication. He is currently working to communicate scientific information in an easy-to-understand manner, and in 2022 he founded Eusapia Co., Ltd. He loves invertebrates.

As a linked project, Enoshima Aquarium will also be hosting an event on Saturday, August 23rd, where radiolarian researcher Atsushi Matsuoka (Niigata University/Chiba Institute of Technology) will give a talk on the mysterious creatures "radiolaria" on display at this special exhibition. A limited number of tickets will be on sale, allowing you to enjoy both the talk event at TeNQ on Sat., August 11th (national holiday) and the talk event at Enoshima Aquarium on Sat., August 23rd. This special ticket includes one event participation ticket for both days (one each), one admission ticket to Space Travelium TeNQ, and one admission ticket to Enoshima Aquarium.
