Gate relief

In March 2014, the Nagashima Gate and Oh Gate on either side of Tokyo Dome 22 Gate will be renovated!
A large relief depicting the couple's majestic appearance in their former years has been newly installed, and a monument using bronze statues of both men that had previously been on display above the gate has been installed.

A relief with the theme of "Dynamic Nagashima" and "Silent King," evoking the playing days of both Mr. Nagashima and Mr. Oh.

Gate Monument Details

The bronze monument to Nagashima and Oh, which was originally located next to the old Nagashima/Oh Gate, has been relocated to this new location, and combines a bat and a laurel relief.

The unveiling ceremony on March 23, 2014

As part of this renovation, large reliefs depicting the majestic figures of Nagashima and Oh have been installed on either side of Gate 22 of Tokyo Dome to serve as the new symbol of the Dome, and a monument has been created at the top of the arch using the bronze statues of both men that were previously displayed.

History of Nagashima Gate and O Gate

1980年11月25日 In recognition of their many years of achievements, Korakuen Stadium, Ltd. (now Tokyo Dome, Ltd.) presented Shigeo Nagashima with the third base used in 1980 and Sadaharu Oh with the first base at a special awards ceremony.
1981年4月4日 The third gate at Korakuen Stadium was named the Nagashima Gate and the first gate the Oh Gate, and monuments were erected at each.
1988年3月17日 After Korakuen Stadium was demolished, the monument was exhibited at "Top of the Big Egg" on the 4th floor of Tokyo Dome.
1997年3月16日 As part of the 10th anniversary campaign for Tokyo Dome, Tokyo Dome Nagashima Gate was re-opened on the stairs on the third base side next to Gate 22, and the Oh Gate was re-opened on the stairs on the first base side next to Gate 22. At the same time, monuments were installed next to each gate.
2014年3月23日 Nagashima Gate and Wang Gate renovated.
