2001年度 東京ドームMVP賞が決定!

On November 22nd, the 2001 Tokyo Dome MVP Award ceremony was held at TOKYO DOME HOTEL.

This award is given annually to one player from each of the two teams, the Tokyo Yomiuri Giants and the Nippon Ham Fighters, whose home stadiums are the Tokyo Dome BIG EGG, to the player who has achieved the most outstanding results in the official games held at Tokyo Dome that year.

This year, the 22nd year of the award, the winners were Kazuhiro Kiyohara from the Tokyo Yomiuri Giants and Michihiro Ogasawara from the Nippon Ham Fighters. Both players were presented with a prize of 3 million yen by Ariatsu Hayashi, President and CEO of Tokyo Dome Corporation.

This is my first time receiving the Tokyo Dome MVP Award, but this year, even when I was not performing well, I was able to achieve good results thanks to the enthusiastic support of the Tokyo Dome fans. In particular, the game I hit my first game-winning grand slam home run at the Tokyo Dome was memorable.

With the 3 million yen prize money, I will eat a lot of chicken, save energy for next season, and do my best to achieve as good results at other stadiums as I do at home. And I would love to lift up new manager Hara.

This is my third consecutive year receiving the award, and the Tokyo Dome MVP Award was one of the prizes I wanted to receive, so I'm very happy. Among them, the most memorable thing was that I was able to score in 17 consecutive games at my home stadium, Tokyo Dome. I'm thinking of using the prize money to fund my house.

As a team, we had disappointing results this year, but just as Kintetsu came in last place last year to win the championship, Nippon-Ham will do their best next season to win the championship.
